Aesthetic surgery (also known as ‘plastic sugery’) refers to the practise of restoring form or function of body parts, or improving and enhancing certain body features. The origins of reconstructive surgery have dated back to as early as 2000 B.C in India, and have dramatically changed into the methods available today.
Aesthetic surgery is beneficial in that burn victims or individuals with deformations of the body are able to receive surgery to correct these problems.
The term plastic surgery does not refer to the use of the synthetic material, rather it is derived from the Latin term ‘plastikos,’ meaning to mould or shape.
Many clinics offering cosmetic surgery abroad are becoming very popular as cheap way to combine a holiday and surgery.
